Detailed Information
Zilapride Hydrochloride Tablets, indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia.
Main Ingredient: Ziprasidone Hydrochloride
Characteristics: This product appears as off-white to pale red tablets or film-coated tablets. After removing the coating, it exhibits a color ranging from off-white to pale red.
Dosage and Administration
Initial Treatment: Take 20 mg (one tablet) twice daily, orally with meals. The dosage may be gradually increased to 80 mg (four tablets) twice daily, depending on the patient's condition. To ensure the lowest effective dose, carefully monitor the patient's response after initiating treatment before making any dosage adjustments. Generally, dosage adjustments should be spaced at least 2 days apart, as steady-state plasma concentrations of this medication are typically achieved within 1–3 days following oral administration.
Maintenance Therapy: Patients should undergo regular assessments to determine whether maintenance treatment is necessary. Although the optimal duration of ziprasidone maintenance therapy remains undefined, clinical trials conducted over 52 weeks demonstrated that patients with schizophrenia maintained effective symptom control when treated with ziprasidone at a dose range of 20–80 mg twice daily. During the maintenance phase, the lowest effective dose should be used; in most cases, administering 20 mg of ziprasidone twice daily is sufficient.
